Alt Attribute

Alt attributes are alternate text associated with a web page graphic. Alt attributes should describe what the graphic is for or about and contain good relevant keywords.

Alt attributes appear in place of missing images, and appear when the Internet user is browsing a website with images turned off.

Alt attributes also make web pages more accessible to the disabled. For example, a vision-impaired user may have a web browser that reads aloud the text and alt attributes on a page.
